The Department of State Services, DSS, on Monday summoned a 48-year elderly person, Joshua Sayo, before an Osun State Magistrate Court for supposedly criticizing Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye.
The DSS Prosecutor, Barr B.O Nweke told the court that the respondent submitted the offense on June 19, 2020, in Osogbo.
Nweke asserted that the litigant defamed Osun State House of Assembly Speaker by distributing derisive pictures and words on a Facebook account “Sayo Oki” against him knowing to be bogus.
He further said the blamed carried out an offense in spite of Section 374(1)b and 374 and culpable under Section 375 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
Yet, the litigant argued not liable to the criticism claim pummeled against him
The Defense Counsel, Ibraheem Imran requested that the court award the blamed bail in the most liberal term.
In her decision Magistrate, Modupe Awodele allowed bail to the blamed bail in the entirety for 100,000 Naira with 2 guarantees in like whole.
She from that point suspended the case till Tuesday, July 14, 2020, for hearing.
